The Sacrament of Baptism is routinely celebrated and can be administered both during Mass or outside of Mass. For adults, the Sacrament of Baptism is normally given after a period of preparation, usually through RCIA. If you would like to schedule a baptism, please
email the priest you wish to baptize your child. If there is no particular priest you wish to baptize your child you may email both to see who may have availability in their schedule. Once a date is confirmed with a priest you need to contact the church office to confirm the date has been added to the parish calendar.

You may email a priest or Dr. Geralyn Murray, gmurray@stmichaelsauburn.com with any questions.
The following items are required for baptism:
1. The Baptismal Application must be completed.
2. A copy of the birth certificate of the child to be baptized is required by the Church before the baptism. This should be brought or mailed to St. Michael’s with the completed application.
3. Copies of a certificate or a letter as proof that baptism classes were attended by the parents and godparents within the last three years.
4. Sponsor Covenant form completed by each godparent.
5. For any godparent who is living with their significant other/spouse, we need a copy of their marriage certificate as proof that they are in a valid marriage in the eyes of the Catholic Church.
6. If the parents of the child are not members of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, we need a letter of permission from the pastor of their Catholic parish.
7. All necessary paperwork must be in our office at least 3 days prior to the Baptism.
Where should the Baptism take place? The most appropriate place to baptize a child is in the parish church where the parents attend Mass.
