American Heritage Girls is a Christ-centered character and leadership development program for girls 5 to 18 years of age. AHG is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country. Girls do badgework from our 6 program emphases: Faith, Leadership, Social Emotional, Outdoors, Citizenship and Life Skills.
OUR LOCAL TROOP
Our troop, AL0412, was founded in January 2022. We currently have 18 girl members aged 5-12. In our first six months as a troop, our founding members earned their Joining Award, Our Flag Badge, Cake Decorating Badge, and the Respect Life and Founding Troop Member patch. We set and exceeded our fundraising goal and participated in the Walk 4 Life benefitting Women’s Hope Medical Clinic. The troop hosted a raffle at Parish Picnic, and Pioneer members baked and donated cakes for the cake walk. Some of our members were able to attend the Auburn University Graduate Women in Science “Spring into Science” and learn from women about different degrees and career paths in the sciences. Girls helped organize our very first troop Camping Trip at Chewacala State Park in May. Finally, we ended the program year with our Award Ceremony where families we able to celebrate with their girls all their hard work!
WHAT'S COMING UP
Our new Program year starts August 29 with a drop in informational meeting, where parents can ask questions and fill out paperpwork and girls can meet new and returning troop members.
In September we will start our devotion theme of the year with a Shine Night, focused on Matthew 5:14-16 and participate in AHG’s National Day of Service.
In the fall we will collaborate with Trail Life to work on our Horticulture badge, and girls and families will visit a local pumpkin patch to learn more about agronomy and being stewards of the Earth.
Our fundraiser will benefit Wreaths Across America, and girls will be able to participate in a local wreath laying, to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.
Our Troop will celebrate the spirit of Advent by participating in both the Operation Christmas Child and Box of Joy programs.
